Jaguar-Land Rover sold today (2008)

By Tim Pollard Motor Industry 26 March 2008 10:18 Ford has finally sold its Jaguar and Land Rover subsidiaries to Indian manufacturing giant Tata Motors. The Blue Oval announced the widely anticipated sale to the US stock markets and employees this morning, confirming it was paid $2.3 billion (£1.2bn) for the two premium British marques. It has sold them wholesale, rather than keeping a stake as it did with Aston Martin - ending a decade of American ownership.Ford bought Land Rover from the BMW-Rover break-up in 2000, 11 years after it acquired Jaguar.

This particular 250 TR is something rather special – although they all are, of course – because it is one of the original prototypes for the Testa Rossa and is expected to beat the current world car auction record – around $30M for a 1936 Bugatti Type 57SC Atlantic – when it appears at Pebble Beach next month. Apple iOS in the Car coming soon

Apple Many of today’s cars feature a touchscreen infotainment system of some sort, with a number of them looking remarkably like a high-end tablet device. So it was only a matter of time before the two technologies converged. This vision appears to be a little closer to reality now, with images and a video leaked on Twitter appearing to be show a highly advanced version of Apple’s much-rumoured iOS in the Car feature.
