Hennessey Cadillac Escalade gets 557 hp
Wed, 23 Apr 2014The 2015 Cadillac Escalade is about as American as an SUV can be. We didn't find the 420-hp, 6.2-liter V8 lacking in any way, but if you want something with a little more grunt, Hennessey Performance Engineering and its HPE550 upgrade should help. Hennessey says the HPE550 Escalade package bumps output to 557 hp and 542 lb-ft of torque with the help of a belt-driven supercharger producing 6 psi.
New Chevrolet Aveo (2011 / 2012) revealed
Wed, 08 Sep 2010The Chevrolet Aveo debuts at Paris It always seems a bit strong proclaiming that a new car has been revealed when we know it’s probably going to be a year before said car hits the showrooms. That long gestation period could even change the 2011 Chevy Aveo in to the 2012 Chevy Aveo, which considering the ‘Concept’ for the new Chevy Aveo was shown at Detroit in January is one long introduction phase.
Carbon-fiber parts and a software fix help create a lighter, faster Fiat
Mon, 19 Mar 2012Chrysler Group's Mopar parts brand and Italian supplier Magneti Marelli have teamed up on a design exercise based on the 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth that shaved weight and added horsepower. The vehicle, called the Venom, has a number of carbon fiber components -- hood and side mirrors, for example -- that makes it about 200 pounds lighter than the 2,512-pound Abarth. The Venom uses software updates and additional exhaust components to boost the Abarth's standard 160-hp 1.4-liter turbocharged engine's output by as much as 25 percent.
