BMW ActiveHybrid 3 (2012 / 2013): New 3 Series Hybrid details revealed
Tue, 18 Oct 20112012 BMW ActiveHybrid 3 - on sale late 2012 BMW hasn’t had the most astonishing success with its hybrid offerings to date, but despite that, and following the reveal of the 2012 3 Series last week, they have announced details of the 3 Series hybrid – the BMW ActiveHybrid 3. Just like the recently revealed ActiveHybrid 5, the BMW Active Hybrid 3 will get a 302bhp twin-turbo six-pot (the same engine as the 335i) together with an electric motor which throws an additional 53bhp in to the mix. That should mean a 0-60mph of around 5.5 seconds (although BMW has given us no performance figures) and it will give 44mpg, exactly the same as the bigger ActiveHybrid 5 – and not exactly spectacular.
McLaren 650S to make Geneva debut
Wed, 12 Feb 2014McLaren Automotive The McLaren 650S will be the star of the British brand’s display at the 2014 Geneva motor show, it has been confirmed. At this stage McLaren has revealed little other than the name, and a close-up shot of the car’s badge. It says, however, that the 650S “takes learnings from both the 12C as well as the sell-out McLaren P1 and will be positioned between the two on McLaren Automotive’s supercar grid”.
Saab parent company to sell Spyker luxury brand to U.S. firm
Thu, 29 Sep 2011Saab parent company Swedish Automobile plans to sell its Spyker luxury-sports-car brand to U.S. private-equity firm North Street Capital for about $44 million. Spyker has been careful to point out to European news sources that the agreement has not been made final.
