16-year-old Verstappen to race in Formula 1
Wed, 20 Aug 2014TEENAGER Max Verstappen is confident he can handle the pressures of the world of Formula One and insists he is not worried about the sport's dangers. The 16-year-old is set to become the youngest driver in F1's history after joining Toro Rosso for the 2015 campaign. Verstappen - 17 in September and currently competing in Formula Three - will replace Frenchman Jean-Eric Vergne at the Red Bull-owned team.
OFFICIAL: Jaguar F-Type Coupe and F-Type R Coupe revealed (video)
Wed, 20 Nov 2013Jaguar F-Type Coupe and F-Type R Coupe revealed We finally get the reveal of the Jaguar F-Type Coupe in Los Angeles, but we also get the debut of the F-Type we thought we might have to wait longer for – the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe. Whilst the F-Type Coupe and S Coupe get the same familiar V6 Supercharged engines as the F-Type Roadster, the new F-Type R gets Jaguar’s ‘R’ V8 S/C with 542bhp, a 0-60 mph of 4.0 seconds and a limited top speed of 186 mph. That means the F-Type Coupe makes the jump from the two V6 versions straight to the V8 R, missing out the regular V8 S/C found in the Roadster, but at £85,000 the F-Type R Coupe is just £5k more than the V8 S Roadster and looks a hugely promising offering.
New Rolls Royce Wraith on the road (video)
Wed, 12 Jun 2013The new Rolls Royce Wraith hits the road The new Rolls Royce Wraith – revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in March – is Rolls Royce’s answer to the sport credentials of Bentley, and it’s a convincing effort. Essentially a Ghost Coupe, the Wraith’s styling is, perhaps, a little jarring with its almost dog humping back end, but from some angles it also looks remarkably elegant for a two door coupe that’s the size of a delivery truck. But the key to the Wraith’s appeal – apart from the sumptuous fixtures and fittings – is its dynamism and power, with 624bhp on tap from its v12 (and an earth-turning 590lb/ft of torque too) enough to shift the Wraith to 60mph in a very un-Rolls Royce 4.4 seconds.
