Thu, 14 Apr 2011For the masochistic car enthusiast--and many of us here at AutoWeek count ourselves among that breed--nothing is sure to tantalize and frustrate quite as nicely as a Lotus. Not just any Lotus, mind you, but a peaky, force-fed, emissions-saddled 1986 Turbo Esprit. The example shown here, http://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/ctd/2318628863.html, appears to be a fine specimen of Giguaro's wedgy Brit, and the rear-quarter decals indicate that this is a late HCi model--high-compression plus Bosch fuel injection.
Rolls-Royce teases Wraith before Geneva motor show
Tue, 22 Jan 2013Rolls-Royce has revealed the first actual photo of the upcoming Wraith coupe, which will debut at the Geneva motor show in March. The first teaser image was just smoke in the shape of the Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament, but this photo shows the actual shape of the car. Last week we reported that the big coupe will most likely carry a 6.0-liter V12 engine that should create about 600 hp, and that the car will be about 7 inches shorter than the four-door Ghost.
Volkswagen Phaeton will return to U.S. market
Thu, 19 Aug 2010The Phaeton large sedan is coming back to Volkswagen's lineup in the United States, according to the head of the German plant that builds the car. VW pulled the $85,000 Phaeton from the U.S. market in 2006 after four years of falling short of sales expectations.
