1957 Ferrari sells for record $12.1 million at auction

Sun, 17 May 2009

A 1957 Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa once again blew away the competition, setting a world record for cars sold at auction when it fetched an eye-popping $12.1 million on Sunday at an event on the grounds of the Ferrari factory in Maranello, Italy. The Testa Rossa was one of just 22 produced from 1957 to 1958, and the Scaglietti design is marked by prominent pontoon fenders. The cars also were successful racers, winning 10 of the 19 international races they entered from 1958 to 1961.

We reported a bit back that the RX-8 was to make its way to the great scrapyard in the sky, another victim of the increasingly strict Euro emissions regulations - Euro 5 coming in to play in January 2011. So although the RX-8 will continue for now in some parts of the world,  production in Hiroshima has ended for the UK and Europe.

British motor show axed for good?

Thu, 14 Oct 2010

The British motor show will not go ahead in 2012, the organisers confirmed today. 'The British International Motor Show has been a tremendously successful showcase for the UK motor industry,' said SMMT chief exec Paul Everitt.
