Putting the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept through its paces
Fri, 25 Jan 2013Unfortunately, the Volvo S60 Polestar Concept will not be coming to a dealership near you anytime soon. It’s purely an experiment to determine if the public would be interested in 508-hp, racing-bred Volvos. Concept Car of the Week: Mercury El Gato (1970)
Fri, 24 May 2013Of all the brands that marked American automobile history, Mercury had never been the most popular or the most loved, which ultimately led to its demise in 2011 when Ford chose to terminate the brand. However one of their coolest creations is fairly unknown mostly due its short concept car life: El Gato, in Spanish translating as "The Cat".
Up in smoke: Smokey Yunick's garage burns
Tue, 26 Apr 2011Legendary NASCAR mechanic Smokey Yunick closed the "Best Damn Garage In Town" long before he died in 2001. But the main concrete-block, tin-roofed building on Beach Street in Daytona Beach, Fla., remained a stop on the NASCAR history trail for visiting faithful until Monday night, when fire destroyed the building. The building housed Yunick's office and a medium-size garage and more recently served as office space for Carbon Press, the publishing company that Yunick's daughter, Trish, operates and which produces products that include Yunick's salty 1,100-page autobiography and biographies of other racing personalities.
