Concept Car of the Week: Mercedes T80 (1939)
Fri, 19 Sep 2014In the decade before World War II, no other carmaker even came close to matching the combined dominance of Mercedes-Benz and recently founded Auto Union. Supported by Adolf Hitler's Nazi government, the two brands had grander plans to demonstrate Germany's technological supremacy. Volkswagen Cross Coupe
Wed, 30 Nov 2011Volkswagen unveiled its SUV concept, the Cross Coupe, at the 42nd Tokyo motor show today. The ‘SUV of the future', is an all-wheel drive plug-in hybrid that hints at the future aesthetic of such a model from the brand. Dimensionally the Cross Coupe slots between the Golf hatchback and the current Tiguan baby SUV, with the CC's short overhangs contributing to its short length and overall sporting dynamic.
Fifth Gear on TV – the Return
Tue, 23 Mar 2010Fifth Gear Returns to TV in April with a new format Fifth Gear was everyone’s second favourite car show on TV. And that second favourite label seemed to be its undoing when FIVE decided last year to ditch the show after it failed to make any impact on the ratings against everyone’s favourite car show on TV – Top Gear. But FIVE (channel five if we ditch the trendy CAPITALS) have had a change of heart, done a syndication deal or two for Fifth Gear and are putting together a new series (they’ve actually commissioned two of them) which should hit TV screens at the end of next month.
