Public Says No To Motorway Go Slow Plans

IT’S A BIG ‘no’ from the motoring public on the subject of lowering motorway speed limits, according to a survey conducted by car supermarket firm Motorpoint. In light of recent proposals to reduce to 60mph the speed limit on a 34-mile section of the M1 spanning Derbyshire and South Yorkshire due to pollution concerns, the web-based survey found 78.1 per cent of drivers opposed such measures. Peugeot Design Contest 2008

Carlos Arturo Torres Tovar from Colombia was last week announced as the winner of the 5th annual Peugeot Design Contest at the 2008 Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris. The 25 year old designer's winning 'RD' concept was chosen via an online internet poll and a competition jury headed by Peugeot's Managing Director, Jean Philippe Collin. This year's contest asked designers to "Imagine the Peugeot in the worldwide megalopolis of tomorrow" and to then design a car that could evolve with the cities of the future, while retaining the key values of the 21st century.

Manzoni, Ingenlath and Hildebrand to speak at Auto Design Prague

The fourth annual Auto Design Prague conference will take place on 18 September at the National Technical Library in Prague-Dejvice. The event is open to professionals and the wider public, and will include a program of 10 presentations by designers including vice president of Ferrari design, Flavio Manzoni; Volvo design director Thomas Ingenlath; Jaguar's advanced design director, Julian Thompson, and Qoros head of design, Gert Hildebrand.
