Rosberg takes pole in Belgium in the rain Formula One is back from its summer break, but normal service has resumed with Mercedes taking a one-two at Spa in qualifying for the 2014 Belgian Grand Prix, but it’s Nico Rosberg on pole, beating Lewis Hamilton in to second place. The two Mercedes were in a league of their own – two seconds ahead of the best of the rest – as torrential rain made the Spa circuit teachorous. Hamilton’s qualifying was patchy – - and a bit erratic – and he also had problems with glazed discs pulling his car to the left, but Rosberg was consistent – and quick – and deserved his pole.

The new Subaru WRX Concept) pictured is heading for Frankfurt and, it seems, the UK Subaru in the UK had decided that their future lay with eco cars, crossovers and other fluffy-bunny models instead of with budget supercars like the WRX. So when the next generation Subaru WRX arrived at the New York Auto Show in March it looked like it was tease for a car UK buyers could never own. But it looks like things have changed.

Volkswagen are to produce a range of small cars - based on the VW Up! Concept - in Slovakia [ad#ad-1] Volkswagen, and the whole VW/Audi/Porsche/SEAT/Skoda… group are certainly attacking the recession head-on. No cowering in a corner for the Germans – go attack is definitely the ethos.
