Digital Yacht NMEA to Wireless Wi-Fi Adapter - 38,400 Baud MFG# ZDIGWLN10HS

NMEA to Wireless Wi-Fi Adapter - 38,400 Baud

This innovative and cost effective wireless device creates its own 802.11b+g wireless access point which any other wireless device can connect to, such as a Smart Phone, Netbook or Laptop.

Connect it to any device or system that has an NMEA 0183 output and it will automatically read the data and transmit it wirelessly to another wireless device. The NMEA 0183 data is transferred using TCP/IP protocol to a suitably compatible application on the wireless device.

A number of Marine Navigation software packages support TCP/IP data transfer including;

  • SeaPro (PC)
  • Rose Point Coastal Explorer (PC)
  • MacENC (Macs)
  • iNavX (iPhone/iPad)

If you are connecting the WLN10HS to an AIS receiver or transponder, then Digital Yacht's free iAIS app is downloadable from the Apple App Store, which will display an AIS radar type picture on your Apple device.

Only one device at a time can send/receive TCP/IP data with the WLN10HS.

  • Wireless NMEA Data server (38400 baud)
  • Reads NMEA 0183 data and transmits it wirelessly over 802.11b+g
  • Can be fitted to any AIS unit or NMEA Multiplexer that is outputting/inputting NMEA 0183 data at 38400 baud
  • Supports Bi-Directional communication but must be at the same 38400 baud rate
  • Creates an 802.11b+g wireless access point and then transmits data via TCP/IP link
  • Fully compatible with popular iNavX navigation application for Apple mobile devices
  • Easy to install IP54 black box solution

Concept Car of the Week: Ford Mustang RSX Concept (1979)

Fri, 28 Feb 2014

In the late ‘70s, Ford commissioned carrozzeria Ghia to build a concept car based on the Fox platform to help promote its third generation Mustang. Probably inspired by the Escort RS's success at the World Rally Championship, the concept was dubbed RSX – standing for Rally Sport Experimental – and the Fox platform-based Mustang was modified as a rally car. To improve the handling, the wheelbase from the Fox was shortened by 142mm, the track was widened by around 25mm at the rear while the ride height was increased for off-tarmac stages of European rallies.

Nissan tests self-cleaning paint

Fri, 25 Apr 2014

Well that took long enough. Nanotechnology is here, and Nissan is reportedly using it in the paint on its little Versa Note hatchback. We would have started on something a little more exciting, like the hard-to-care-for matte finish on the GT-R's rear spoiler, but that's just us.

Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic: pictures and full details

Wed, 19 Feb 2014

Bam – how’s that for an attention-grabbing colour? This is the new Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic, and it’s more orange than the entire cast of TOWIE dropped into a blender. The reason we’ve all been Tangoed is simple – the Autobiography Dynamic joins the Evoque range at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show as a new high-performance model. Range Rover Evoque Autobiography Dynamic: technical details With 285hp and 295lb ft of torque from its 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, it’s 45hp and 44lb ft more potent than the previous top dog – if still some way short of the likes of the 310hp Audi RS Q3 and the new 400hp Porsche Macan Turbo.
