Bypass Essentials 556UW / 556U Universal Bypass

Allows remote start in vehicles equipped with a transponder or radio-frequency based immobilizer

The DEI 556U immobilizer interface module (bypass module) is used when installing a remote starter in vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a
small chip imbedded in the ignition key, called a transponder, to transmit a very low powered RF signal. This signal is detected through an antenna (or coil) around the ignition switch, which is then sent to the immobilizer's transceiver.

Features

Overview: The 556UW immobilizer interface module is used when installing remote start products (sold separately) in select vehicles equipped with an RF (Radio Frequency) based immobilizer system. This type of system uses a small chip imbedded in the ignition key, called a transponder, to transmit a very low powered RF signal. This signal is picked up through an antenna (or coil) around the ignition switch which is then sent to the immobilizer's transceiver. Once the correct signal is received, the immobilizer will enable the ignition and/or fuel systems. If an attempt is made to start the vehicle and the transceiver does not receive a valid code, the ignition and sometimes the fuel systems are disabled. The immobilizer system will then render the remote start useless. The 556U bypasses the immobilizer system only while the remote start is in use, maintaining the factory system's integrity. When the remote start system is not in use the factory immobilizer remains fully functional.

Installation: The 556UW requires an active key from your vehicle to be installed inside the immobilizer interface module. The 556UW is then mounted underneath your vehicle's steering column. The 556UW immobilizer interface module features the following connections.

  • 6-Pin Harness: Power/Ground/Input Harness
    • Red (+)12 Volt Input: connect this wire to a fused source of constant 12 volt
    • Blue (-) Status Input: connect this wire to the remote start negative (-) status output
    • Pink (+) Ignition Input: connect this wire to the vehicle's true ignition output
    • Black (-) Chassis Ground: connect this wire to the vehicle's chassis ground
    • Violet (+) Key-Sense Input: connect this wire to the vehicle's positive key-sense output wire
    • Green (-) Key-Sense Input: connect this wire to the vehicle's negative key-sense output wire

Chevy Volt MPG: Shocking!

Tue, 11 Aug 2009

I love the Internet. Specifically, the comments sections on big stories like the Chevy Volt. And it is the same on every site: The first two comments are fairly sensible and actually relate to whatever the story is, then everybody just starts eating each other's young and blaming the government for everything.

Superb wins Tow Car of the Year

Wed, 02 Oct 2013

THE SKODA SUPERB Estate has been crowned Tow Car of the Year by the Caravan Club, beating off competition from 40 other entrants including Range Rover and Jaguar. Commenting on the Superb’s ability, the judges remarked: ‘With a loading limit of 100kg on the roof, 80kg on the towball and a boot that scored maximum marks, it’s a very tough act to follow. You wouldn’t know you were towing a caravan.’ Skoda also won the £16,000-£20,000 category with the new Octavia 1.2 TSI, which was praised for its pulling power with such a small engine.

Scrappage helps UK car sales in October

Thu, 05 Nov 2009

Scrappage Scheme sales accounted for 20% of sales in October Despite our reservations about the Scrappage Scheme, it does seem that it has inspired buyers in to showrooms in the last few months. And October has recorded a year on year increase of 31.6%, although total car sales are still down over 12% on 2008 figures. October saw a big rise in new cars sales to private buyers with sales rocketing by 86%, and there were rises in the fleet and business market.
