The Bluebird DC50 is an electric supercar to celebrate land and water world speed records

Tue, 09 Jul 2013

The Bluebird DC50 (pictured) is an electric supercar to celebrate Campbell world speed records Don Wales has an impressive family tree – certainly when it comes to speed – with Sir Malcolm Campbell his grandfather and Donald Campbell his uncle. So it’s no big surprise that Don is plotting to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Donald Campbell’s land and water world speed records in 2014 with a new, limited edition supercar, taking time out from making Bluebirds to break the electric land speed record. But the anniversary is in 2014, so Campbell junior has decided that his celebratory supercar – the Bluebird DC50 – will be an electric supercar rather than an ICE one.

Mercedes Viano Vision Diamond – the Maybach of vans

Wed, 25 Apr 2012

Mercedes Viano Vision Diamond Mercedes-Benz has revealed the Viano Vision Diamond at Beijing, a utilitarian Mercedes van with the interior of a Maybach. The Maybach brand didn’t do Mercedes any favours, with German glitterballs proving no match for British (oh, alright, German-ish) understated elegance in the Rolls Royce Phantom. Maybach has now been re-consigned to the dustbin of history and likely only ever to be seen as a badge to denote the glitziest model in the next S Class range.

Lamborghini Aventador LP700-4 Roadster arrives next week

Sun, 04 Nov 2012

The Roadster version of Lamborghini’s LP700-4 Aventador will be revealed in Miami next week and debut at the Los Angeles Motor Show. The Lamborghini Aventador – successor to the Murcielago – was revealed by Lamborghini at the start of 2011 before getting a public debut at Geneva 2011, since when we’ve been anticipating the arrival of its Roadster sibling and even had confirmation of the Aventador Roadster from the EPA in the US. But the wait for the Aventador Roadster is now just about over with the news that Lamborghini will be debuting their open-topped Aventador at the Los Angeles Motor Show later this month.
