Audi A4 Avant (2008): first official pictures

So step forward the new A4 Avant, unveiled today.The estate version of the A4 will major on sporty style rather than outright practicality, but the numbers are smaller (less thirsty than the old one) and larger (boot capacity up by 48 litres to 490, 1430 with the seats down) as appropriate. 2005 Interior Motives Design award winners announced

 The Interior Motives Design Awards were held on the second press day of the IAA in Frankfurt. Now in its third year, the awards ceremony is a regular fixture, inked into schedules as a chance to meet and make acquaintances. Each year, Interior Motives proposes a range of design briefs to leading universities, giving their young talent the opportunity to have their work viewed by leading designers and win up to $5000.

MG Design Centre opens in UK

The opening of MG's new design center this week at the historic production site of Longbridge, Birmingham, England was both an incredible and credible occasion. Incredible, because the brand looked dead in the water after the debacle of MG Rover's collapse in 2005 and even after various Chinese takeovers, its UK operation seemed destined to play no more than a tokenistic bit part. And thankfully credible too, because now all of MG's global design will genuinely be led from this new facility in the epicentre of England's traditional motoring heartland.
