Wed, 30 Mar 2011Jaguar E-Type 50th Anniversary Stamps (click image for full size) Motoring history will tell you that 1961 was the year of the Jaguar E-Type. The year it launched at the Geneva Motor Show and changed the way the world looked at Jaguar forever. The year that Enzo Ferrari called the E-Type the most beautiful car in the world, and the year the whole world – petrolhead or not – fell in love with Jaguar’s supercar for the masses.
Jeep uncovers the 2012 Grand Cherokee SRT8 packing 465 hp
Tue, 19 Apr 2011Following a one-year hiatus, Jeep is returning the fire-breathing Grand Cherokee SRT8 to the lineup for 2012, which made its world debut at the New York Auto Show. Central to the changes is a new 6.4-liter Hemi V8 engine producing 465 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque--a 45-hp and 45-lb-ft improvement over the outgoing 6.1-liter unit. Jeep says the SRT8 is good to hit 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, cover the quarter-mile in the mid-13-second range and reach a top speed of 155 mph.
Renault Twin’Run gets 316bhp & pays homage to the Renault 5 Turbo
Fri, 24 May 2013The Twin’Run is an extreme version of the next Twingo and manages to pay homage to the old Renault 5, with a thumping great V6 bolted in the middle and pumping out 316bhp and 280lb/ft of torque, enough to get to 62mph in 4.5 seconds and on to 155mph. The Nissan-sourced V6 gets mated to a SADEV six-speed sequential gearbox and comes with a limited slip diff to stop the tyres burning off when the going gets brisk. As well as endowing the Twin’Run with lots of power, Renault has also kept weight down to 950kg by using a tubular chassis, glass-polyester composite for the bodywork, lumps of carbon fibre and not a hugely laden interior.
