Rockin' Supercar: The Rebirth, Short Life, and Death of a Shark-Fin-Equipped '85 Toyota Tercel Wagon
Fri, 18 Apr 2014Sometimes a very ordinary car becomes something special, maybe even loved, but that's not always enough to keep it out of the jaws of the crusher. This is the story of a second-gen Toyota Tercel wagon (known in Japan as the Sprinter Carib) and its journey from auction to lumber-hauler to kid transportation to a Chinese steel factory. Englon TXN from Geely. The new London Taxi? No Chance.
Mon, 12 Apr 2010Englon TXN by Geely - supposedly on Tower Bridge A couple of weeks ago we regaled you with the sorry story of the London Cab falling in to Chinese hands. London Taxis International already sourced most of the parts for the TX4 from China and just bolted them together here.
Mazda reveals Mazda2 EV with range-extender Wankel rotary engine
Sat, 21 Dec 2013Mazda reveals Mazda2 EV with range-extender Wankel rotary engine It’s long seemed logical that a compact Wankel rotary engine – running at a constant speed – would be a great way of fitting electric cars with a range-extender option. Audi flirted with the idea of fitting the A1 e-tron with a Wankel engine a couple of years ago, but that got shelved. And Mazda – keepers of the Wankel flame – came up with the idea of a Wankel engine bolted in to an EV and powered by hydrogen last year, but it seems to0 have gone nowhere.
