Jaguar & me: high-maintenance love
Thu, 24 Jun 2010In a fit of madness a few years ago, and seeking solace from impending divorce at the time, I purchased a gorgeous blue Series III XJ6, with wonderful dark blue leather upholstery, that was at the time about five years old. Just 40,000 miles on the clock. I then drove the hell out of it for three years to 100,000 miles and it never let me down once – on the road that is.

Fri, 11 Nov 2011The Canary Yellow Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Special Edition at Dubai Remarkably, it’s been at least a few weeks since the last Limited Edition Bugatti Veyron turned up. But worry not, Bugatti hasn’t forgotten it’s principle marketing ploy is endless Limited Editions Veyrons, so they’ve turned up at the Dubai Motor Show with a trio of Grand Sport Limited Editions. However, its seems that having come up with endless names for its Limited Editions - Pur Sang, Fbg Par Hermès, Sang Noir, Bleu Centenaire… – and even three special Veyrons for Dubai three years ago – Veyron Nocturne, the Veyron Sang d’Argent and the Veyron Soleil de Nuit - Bugatti has run out of inspiration.
Mercedes SLS AMG E-Cell (2010): the electric SLS
Mon, 05 Jul 2010Following the unveiling of Tesla's updated Roadster 2.5, Mercedes is showing off its iteration of an all-electric sports car: the SLS AMG E-Cell. While the regular SLS pumps out 563bhp and 479lb ft from its 6.2-litre V8, the SLS E-Cell has four synchronous electric motors, powering all four wheels for a combined output of 392kW (equivalent to 526bhp) and a mammoth 649lb ft of torque. Crucially, all of that power is accessible from zero revs, allowing the E-Cell to sprint to 62mph in four seconds dead.
