If you’re able to arrive early enough on Thursday for Goodwood’s Moving Motor Show you might just be able to book yourself a slot to drive up the famous hillclimb course with one of the many manufacturers displaying their cars. Few mere mortals get the opportunity to drive up the hallowed tarmac at Goodwood – it’s more often reserved for F1 aces and motorsport heroes, such as a certain David Coulthard. Confirmed: special Ferrari for 60th anniversary in USA

It’s been a busy week for Ferrari chairman Luca di Montezmolo. First he announced his resignation (effective from October) from the Italian sports car firm after 23 years at the helm. Then he proclaimed record financial results for Ferrari for the first six months of 2014 (£101.4 million profit) before declaring a special Ferrari model will be unveiled in October to celebrate 60 years of the Prancing Horse in America.

Italdesign Tex concept

The second concept from Volkswagen's recently acquired Italdesign was the Tex. A research study into the potential future design language of the German brand, the Tex also draws on existing technologies from Wolfsburg.  Utilizing the 'twin drive' plug-in hybrid system, the Tex is capable of a range of 35 kilometers in electric mode, a range Giugiaro claims is ample enough for day-to-day commuting. Adopting a sporting pretense, the Tex is low slung, sitting atop large 19-inch diameter wheels and sports an aggressive DRG.
