Officially known as the North American International Auto Show – or NAIAS – it’s a chance for carmakers to kick-start the coming 12 months with a bit of glamour and sparkle. And the 2014 Detroit Motor Show has not disappointed, with a substantial number of new debuts and a chance to see some existing favourites, too.
Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Meets The Real Thing
Thu, 21 Aug 2014WHILE Infiniti has yet to make a decision on whether to put its high performance Q50 Eau Rouge model into production, bringing it to the circuit with the corner named after it was too good an opportunity to miss. It’s no surprise that Sebastian Vettel, Infiniti’s Director of Performance and four-time Formula One World Drivers’ Champion, put the car through its paces as part of a social media promotional activity. Vettel has been involved in the ongoing development of the Q50 Eau Rouge prototype, which was first revealed as a design concept vehicle at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January this year.
Support For Fuel Duty Pothole Plan
Fri, 12 Sep 2014MORE than four in five people would support a plan in which money raised from fuel duty was used to repair potholed roads, research has found. Support is highest in eastern England, Wales and Yorkshire and Humberside, according to a survey by the Local Government Association (LGA). The LGA said the Treasury got £33 billion a year from fuel duty, while the Government was spending just under £2 billion a year on maintaining and improving roads over the next five years.
