Dometic Norcold Refrigerator Fan For Rv 12 Volt on 2040-parts.com

It was recently brought to our attention there are other sellers offering their version of our fan on ebay.   Thank God for free enterprise in America; however, I need to clear up a few misconceptions from their ads which have been directed at our fan.

1:  Wiring to light can damage the PC board?   I've never heard of it happening.  We've sold thousands of these on ebay & in campgrounds since June 2006.  My personal unit has been in operation wired through the light since May 2004.  Our fan simply has NEVER damaged anyone's PC board!  Please do not be fooled by their scare tactic.

2:  Larger fan = better value?    Using 0.12A, 1.44 watts, our fan moves air at 30 cubic feet per minute, 3000 rpms.  Their larger fan uses 0.15A to move air at 36cfm.  You'll have to contact them to get the rest of the fan specs.  They do move a little more air, but they also have a bigger amp draw to go with it.  Something to consider if you dry camp.


3:  "Original" ??        One seller claims to be the "Original".  We've been selling RV Refrigerator Fan on ebay since June 2006.  Ask "Penny" how long she's been around.


With our fan we offer you ways to hook into your 12v system without splicing into wires.  We hook you into existing connection points, either at slide apart spade-type connectors or at tighten down screw-type terminals.   Every time you use one of those QuickSplice connectors, you are leaving a cut in the insulation of your wiring.  If you have to take your RV in for warranty service and they inspect the wiring, are they going to be able to detect the cuts?  It is something to consider.

To clarify if you will need the alternative hook up on newer models:
On the DOMETICS~~~ If it has a mechanical door switch @ light, 99% of the time its just putting the fan's 1-wire in the red spade at the light bulb. The switch works on breaking the ground, so YES the fan runs with the door closed.
On the NORCOLDS~~ same as above. IF it does not have a mechanical door switch on the 2007 and newer you may need the alternative installation directions. It's consists of running a 24 gauge wire down the drain tube to the back of the refrigerator to supply continuous 12 volt power to the fan. I need your email address due to it having pictures in the directions.
1 - hot wire is all you have to hook up with our fan!!

1.) UNDERSTANDING YOUR RV REFRIGERATOR: RV refrigerators are not frost-free. The longer they run, the more frost & ice accumulates on the fins. Frost comes from opening and closing the door, letting in warm air. The warm air has higher moisture content which results in frost & ice buildup on the fins. The buildup causes your refrigerator to think it is colder than it actually is.  The  black thermistor is mounted on the right hand side of the fin. The thermistor is what tell the refrigerator to cut on and off. Frost /Ice on the fins causes the thermistor to have a false untrue reading. This will cause the refrigerator's temp to go up due to the thermistor surrounded by frost and telling refrigerator not to come on. This is the only fan made that mounts to the fins keeping the fins dry so that they can't produce frost or ice build up. The thermistor now can sense true temps and work properly.

I had one of these fans made  5 years ago, and it is still working perfectly! I don’t have to buy any more D batteries, and I don’t lose precious shelf space like with the light blue square fans we’ve all seen.
