Toyota to recall 1.1 million Corolla, Matrix models prone to stalling

Toyota Motor Corp. today issued a recall of 1.1 million Corolla and Corolla Matrix vehicles from the 2005-08 model years after more than 1,000 complaints of stalling. In a statement, Toyota said it was addressing some engine control modules that may have been improperly made.

The move effectively signals the end of the Blue Oval's PAG division. Officials have refused to confirm or deny the sale, but have outlined to MPs the deal which will spin off Jaguar and Land Rover, but retain Volvo in the Ford family.
