Art Center College of Design Spring Show 2007
Mon, 20 Aug 2007Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, held its Spring semester graduation Show in April, showcasing a diverse assortment of design proposals for brands ranging from Lamborghini and Ferrari to Chevrolet, Saab and ZhongHua. The show featured work from 16 graduating students in the Bachelor of Science - Transportation Design program. Rick Chen - ZhongHua 2+1 Urban Jet ZhongHua 2+1 Urban Jet is a unique concept vehicle that studies the possible future direction for the brand's design DNA. The vehicle's proportions, forms, and graphics are inspired by clean, elegant, and soft spoken classical Chinese designs that represent an Asian view of luxury.
Dodge Dart
Mon, 23 Jan 2012Dodge revived the iconic Dart nameplate for its new C-segment contender, unveiled at NAIAS 2012. While the Dart represents a new product, filling a gap in the market left by the Neon, it is effecively a rebodied Alfa Romeo Giulietta. The Dart's DRG features drawn-back lamp graphics that are combined with a large grille displaying the classic crosshair insert.
Hot Wheels and Icon in sandbox battle
Wed, 06 Jun 2012As first reported by Jeff Glucker of Hooniverse, the toymaker Mattel has been accused of infringing on a trademark held by the low-volume vehicle builder Icon 4X4. Icon claims that a Hot Wheels toy being distributed worldwide is based on its Icon FJ40—which itself is based on the Toyota FJ40—and that Hot Wheels' use of Icon's design, promotional materials and the name “FJ40” violates trademarks held by Icon. In its response to Tuesday's Hooniverse post, Hot Wheels claimed that the toy is not based on the Icon FJ40, and that it has the right to use the term “FJ40” despite Icon's trademark.
