Fuel-economy standards for all light vehicles will rise 8 percent, to an average of 27.3 mpg for the 2011 model year, under new U.S. rules issued on Friday. The regulations will use a new system that sets standards for individual models based on their size.

The prototype hot Clio appeared twice at the Festival of Speed, driven by chief operating officer Carlos Tavares. The Nissan Juke Nismo will debut this weekend at Le Mans 24 Hours and go on sale in the UK in early 2013. The Nissan Juke Nismo sounds like it should be a slightly watered-down version of the Juke R, but it’s not. The Juke Nismo, revealed at the end of 2011, is in fact a titivated regular Juke; think the Nissan version of IPL.
