Lotus will show the most sporting, toughest Evora yet - the GTE Road Car Concept - at the 2011 Pebble Beach car show this week. As the name implies, it's borne out of the Evora GTE race programme, which sees Lotus's mid-engined 2+2 compete at races across the globe, culminating in the 24-hour race at Le Mans. Mercedes E300 BlueTEC Hybrid Mercedes has revealed a pair of hybrid E-Class cars bound for a Detroit debut – the E300 BlueTec hybrid for Europe and E400 Hybrid for the US. All car maker are busy introducing hybrid platforms where they can, especially for their big-selling cars, and MB is no different, with a pair of new Mercedes Hybrid cars bound for a debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show. The Mercedes E300 BlueTec Hybrid is the offering for Europe, although it wouldn’t be a huge shock if Mercedes eventually launched it in the US.

BMW Group Design has just revealed a revolutionary new concept car which utilizes a flexible textile cover to form its outer skin. Called the ‘GINA' Light Visionary Model - an acronym derived from the principle of Geometry and Functions In "N" (Infinite) Adaptions - the concept offers dramatically different solutions that affect the design and functionality of future cars. The almost seamless flexible textile cover that stretches across a moveable substructure has dispensed with the usual body elements found on production vehicles such as front apron, bonnet, side panels, doors, wheelarches, roof, trunk lid and rear deck.
