Spyker uncertainty leads to redundancies at CPP
Fri, 02 Dec 2011Will we ever see the Spyker C8 Aileron Spyder go in to production? It all started so well for CPP (Manufacturing, Global Holding et al) when it was announced that Spyker Cars had been bought by CPP.
Range Rover Evoque about to go in to production in China – and maybe the new Land Rover Discovery Sport too
Tue, 16 Sep 2014Range Rover Evoque about to go in to production in China It’s been clear Jaguar Land Rover intend to build cars in China – a huge market for Jaguar Land Rover – for some time, but now, with a new factory about to open near Shanghai, that’s about to become a reality. JLR’s new plant in China is in Changhsu and is a joint venture with JLR’s China partner – Chery Automobile – where Chery will be producing JLR cars with a Chery badge on the bonnet. The new plant is due to open in October – with production starting soon after – and as well as producing Chery cars for China JLR will also be building the Range Rover Evoque – JLR’s biggest seller in China – for the local market.
Caterham Supersport R extends Caterham 7 range
Sat, 10 Nov 2012Caterham has added the Supersport R to its range of ’7′ models with a 2.0 litre Duratec Ford engine delivering 180bhp. In the meantime, Caterham’s core road car business is the old Lotus 7 range of Caterhams, so it makes sense to keep that more appealing and relevant until new cars start to arrive, so we get the Caterham Supersport R as an addition to the range to slot in between the Supersport and the Superlight models. The Supersport R gets a Ford Duratec 2.0 litre engine which produces 180bhp, which doesn’t sound a huge amount, but when you consider the Supersport R weighs in at just 535kg it starts to look plenty.
