Now the Japanese carmaker wants to go with a simpler, more upscale style. In a bumper year of anniversaries for automotive manufacturers, Rolls-Royce is celebrating the centenary of the Spirit of Ecstasy. Quite possibly the world’s most famous automotive icon, the flying lady will be honored by renowned photographer Rankin through 100 images inspired by the figurine. Just as Charles Robinson Sykes – the man behind the original figurine – turned to his wife for the form of the Ecstasy, Rankin is using wife and model Tuuli Shipster for his work.

Gordon Murray’s MOTIV.e debuts in Tokyo

Gordon Murray, the famous McLaren Formula One and McLaren F1 road car designer, and bike-builder Yamaha unveiled the MOTIV.e at the Tokyo Motor Show. The MOTIV is a hot take on a city car in the vein of the Smart ForTwo and Aston Martin Cygnet. Multiple versions of the MOTIV could be produced, with both electric and gas power.
