General Motors cancels plans for Buick compact crossover

General Motors has canceled plans for a compact crossover for Buick, vice chairman Tom Stephens said Wednesday in a posting on the company's blog. The five-passenger crossover was just announced earlier this month at an event in Northern Michigan. But GM reversed plans after negative feedback about the vehicle said that it didn't fit the premium characteristics associated with the brand.

Aston claims the V12 Vantage racer will be pretty close to production spec, bar a revised suspension set-up, some safety modifications (a roll cage) and a reduced kerbweight (goodbye stereo system and other goodies). There are also new Pirelli P Zero slick tyres.

Volkswagen has issued a series of official design sketches hinting at the appearance of a radical open-top concept car to be unveiled at the Worthersee fan meet in Austria on May 29. Called the GTI Roadster, the new two-seater was originally conceived as a virtual three-dimensional image in a joint cooperation between Volkswagen and Sony for inclusion in the PlayStation “Gran Turismo” video game series. But with enthusiasm for the low-slung roadster running high among its design team, Volkswagen has decided to turn it into a full-size concept in homage to a long history of GTI models.
