Good used complete transmission for early Fiat 600D (1960-61 if I recall correctly?). This trans has the 8/39 (4.88:1) final drive common to the Sedan models, & is also a very desirable conversion unit for the 600D Multipla for more relaxed highway driving (ie: better top-end speed per rpm's). While it features the early 6-spline input shaft, this trans can be used in a later-model 600D Sedan or Multipla by simply using the early 600/600D 6-spline style clutch disc. If you want to install this in a 600 (not D) Sedan or Multipla, you will not have a parking brake unless you convert your car to use 600D rear A-arms, brakes, etc. (the earlier 600 trans had a parking brake drum on the front/nose of the trans itself).

A little history of this item: This transmission came installed in a Fiat 600 project car I bought many years ago, but I replaced it with a different (Abarth 750) transmission instead, so I don't need this one. The previous owner had converted my early 600 car to use the 600D trans & 600D rear A-arms (with the wheel-mounted parking brake), but I have converted the car back to original parts. He told me at the time that he had gone through the trans replacing any severely-worn parts with new or good-used items, run the trans in another 600D (beater) he had, then once satisfied with its overall condition, he removed it to install into the car I later bought (he had other drivetrain plans for his other car). The trans was already installed when I bought the car, though everything was not completely connected (axles, cables, engine, etc.) & he had not refilled the trans with gear oil (because the axles & boots were not installed yet). I had no issues with that because, after all, it was an unfinished project car when I bought it.

Since I have not personally run this trans, I can only measure its condition by what the seller told me & by visual appearance of the trans itself. It looks to be in overall good clean condition, though I would suggest buying a gasket set for it (about $20-$35 from a few vendors) as it currently doesn't have any case gaskets on it (I noticed this when I pulled the bellhousing off in order to check the final drive ratio - it would appear that the previous owner preferred clean mating surfaces with just a light film of RTV/sealant between them which, judging by the ever-so-slight seepage on the outside of the case joints, was only about 99% sufficient).

Includes the lower mounting cradle (crossmember) with 2 new mounting bushings, clutch throwout bearing w/retainer clip, clutch cable return spring, outer axle boot retainer plates & speedo cable drive unit, as shown.

All items are in the exact condition described & as shown in the photos - what you see is what you get. Please review the entire auction listing & all pictures carefully FIRST, & then bid accordingly. Due to eBay's ridiculous new selling fee structure (based on item cost PLUS shipping cost), International shipping will no longer be offered on any of my items - DOMESTIC SHIPPING ONLY (ie: within USA).

Buyer to pay for insured shipping via USPS Standard Post, UPS Ground or Fed-Ex Ground/Home Delivery (whichever is cheaper), or item can be picked up in person in order to save you $$ in shipping costs. DO NOT RELY ON THE EBAY SHIPPING COST CALCULATOR - IT'S ALMOST ALWAYS WRONG!!! (I will calculate the correct shipping cost once the item is sold & boxed up for shipping). I will gladly package multiple auction items together to save on shipping costs, if possible. Payment to be received within 4 days of receipt of auction invoice, otherwise the item may be offered to the next-highest bidder or simply relisted. Thanks for viewing my auction & good luck on your bidding!

Jaguar Mk2 (2014) unveiled by Ian Callum and Classic Motor Cars

Thu, 28 Aug 2014

By Tim Pollard First Official Pictures 28 August 2014 13:26 Jaguar design chief Ian Callum often references the Jag Mk2. And for good reason; it set the tempo for sports saloons and was an influential forebear of modern hot-rods such as the XFR. So it should come as no surprise that Callum has teamed up a Jaguar specialist to build his own modern Mk2 homage.

Ssangyong LIV-1 SUV: Seoul Motor Show

Mon, 01 Apr 2013

Ssangyong has rolled out yet another SUV Concept at its home motor show in Seoul – the Ssangyong LIV-1 SUV. The Ssangyong LIV-1 SUV is another new SUV concept from Ssangyong (we’ve had the SsangYong SIV-1 at Geneva and the e-XIV EV Concept at Paris in the last six months) with a  catchy little moniker, this one a ‘Limitless Interface Vehicle, which sets the bar quite high. The LIV-1 does have a better looking nose than any of Ssangyong’s current crop of production cars (well, certainly than the Rexton and Rodius) although it does look like the designers were competing to see how many creases they could add to the bodywork of the LIV-1.
