Per Gary, fellow eBayer: The engine is not a 3 main engine as there is no tach drive on the intake manifold side. The engine number is a 18GH not 18G. 18 GH was used in MGBs from Oct 1968 until Aug 1970. The gearbox is a standard 4 sync gearbox not the 3 sync box used on early cars.Gary
Part Brand:Factory Warranty:No Other Part Number:18GH WE-H 39229 Core Charge:No Core Charge

I thought this was a 3 main bearing engine, see picture #3   I Was Informed By A Fellow eBayer:

I Purchased This Engine Serial #18GH WE-H 39229 And Transmission From A Gentleman Who Restored A MGA And A Early MGB   He Bought This As A Spare From A Neighbor   It Has Always Been Stored Inside   He Was Told That It Ran When It Was Originally Removed   *** It Has Not Been Started Or Tested ***   *** It Does Turn Easily By Hand ***   Now Based On The 18G "H" It Should Be Correct For A Early MGB October 1968 to August Of 1970

??? I Am Not Sure If This Is Correct ???

See Below:

The MGB used the 1800 for a long time, so there were codes to denote the differences between the engines, peculiar to MG;-

prefix bearings model market dates if known

18G 3 Mk1 GHN3/D3 all Oct 1962/April64
18GA 3 Mk1 GHN3/D3 all April 1964/Oct64
18GB 5 Mk1 GHN3/D3 all Oct 1964/67
18GD 5 Mk2 GHN4/D4 UK/Europe Oct 1967/69
18GF 5 Mk2 GHN4/D4 USA Oct 1967/69
18GG 5 Mk2 GHN5/D5 UK/Europe Oct 1969/71
18GH* 5 Mk2 GHN5/D5 Europe Oct 1969/70
18GJ 5 Mk2 GHN5/D5 USA Oct 1969/70
18GK 5 Mk2 GHN5/D5 USA Oct 1970/71
18V** 5 Mk3 GHN5/D5 see below Oct 1971 onwards

* After 18GH there were extra letters after the prefix, 'U' still meant central gearchange; 'RU' now meant overdrive; 'We' all synchromesh gearbox; 'RWe' all synchro with overdrive; 'Rc' automatic gearbox.

There Is A "H" Stamped By Hand On The Engine Plate See Picture #3   I Do Not Believe It Is Part Of The Prefix From The Factory   As You Can See It Has A Later Head Installed With The Fresh Air Pump Ports (Large Bolts) See Pictures #2 & #11

New BMW X5 meets its E53 & E70 X5 ancestors (video)

Fri, 07 Jun 2013

The three generations of the BMW X5 meet The new BMW X5 has just been revealed, and it follows the formula of its predecessors to deliver a new X5 that has more of everything previous X5s offered – performance, economy, space, practicality and luxury. BMW like to call the X5 an ‘SAV’ (Sports Activity vehicle) to differentiate it from real SUVs; although the X5 has four-wheel drive it’s not really a mud-plugger like a Land Rover, but more a 5-Series on stilts. But it’s a successful formula that started with the first generation X5 (E53) in 1999.

GM engineers focus on weight, balance for 2013 Cadillac ATS

Fri, 11 May 2012

When engineers at Cadillac built the ATS sedan, they knew that they were competing with some of the best products on the market, such as the BMW 3-series, the Audi A4 and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. They paid special attention to curb weight to help meet their performance goals. “We designed and engineered the ATS's vehicle architecture to deliver quick, nimble and fun-to-drive dynamics,” said David Masch, ATS chief engineer.
