CDN-GM Interactive Design Contest 2013 – Cadillac Brief [w/Video]

Thu, 22 Aug 2013

Tomorrow is the day you've all been waiting for – the launch of the CDN-GM Interactive Design Contest – and so we bring you details of the penultimate brief for Cadillac. Brief Three: Cadillac ‘Looking 12 years into the future – while considering global luxury customers, competitors and trends – how would you evolve the Cadillac Art and Science exterior design language based upon your interpretation of the brand along with incorporating unique American equities and luxury values?' You should consider delivering a visually premium aesthetic through restraint and timelessness, but in a way that is dramatically Cadillac and most importantly celebrates the beauty of the car. The final proposal is worth 30 percent of the overall mark and includes a brief summary of the target customer, key competitors and luxury trends, and an image board on at least two of the following: Visual Craftsmanship; Modern Automotive Beauty; Visual Restraint and American Luxury.

It’s the same format Ford followed with the Focus ST, revealing a near-production concept at the 2010 Paris motor show, and then pulling the wraps off the real thing last night.

But like a ghost that won't go away or a car company that refuses to die, a reborn Viper has been penciled in for Dodge for 2012. A concept version of the next American supercar was shown in September in Orlando, Fla., by Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne to a convention center filled with thousands of people—most of them notoriously talkative car dealers.
