Hyundai shifts Santa Fe production to Kia plant to get more Sonatas

Hyundai Motor America is shifting production of its Santa Fe crossover to the Georgia plant of its corporate cousin, Kia Motors America, to free up production for more high-demand Hyundai Sonatas in Alabama. New workers have been hired at Kia's plant in West Point, Ga., to build the Santa Fe on a second production line, said a source familiar with the situation. The Santa Fe is now built at Hyundai's Montgomery, Ala., plant, which also builds the Sonata sedan.

The assets of Fisker may now belong to China's auto parts giant Wanxiang, but reports of the brand's demise have been greatly exaggerated. It was earlier believed that along with the technology and the debt that Wanxiang would be taking on, one thing they wouldn't get is the Fisker brand name itself. Aston Martin may build Maybachs for Daimler, reports say

Aston Martin is in talks with Daimler AG over a potential partnership that would see the British luxury carmaker design and build a new Maybach ultraluxury sedan for the German automaker, Europe press reports said. Aston Martin may take engine technology from Daimler in exchange for building Daimler's Maybach cars, the Financial Times said on Wednesday, citing people close to the situation. German automotive magazine Auto Zeitung said Daimler has already commissioned a mock-up of a new Maybach limousine that would use know-how and parts from Aston Martin.
