Hummer HX concept previews H4

By Ben Whitworth First Official Pictures 13 December 2007 10:00 Hummer has unleashed three of its newest and youngest designers to create the HX concept that will make its debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January. Fresh out of the College for Creative Studies in Detroit, designers David Rojas (he created the blue concept), Min Young Kang (the red and black creation) and Robert Jablonski (the grey car) were assigned to create a vision of Hummer's off-road future, creating a smaller, lighter and more agile junior Hummer. So who was actually in charge of these fledglings?

It may be leaden with PR-talk but this short presentation by Yasushi Nakamuta, Mazda's director of advanced design studio at the press unveiling of the new Mazda 3 in Melbourne is still worth a couple of minutes of your time. But while the 3 is undeniably attractive we can't help but feel that the 'unique' design process Nakamuta describes (which appears wholly conventional to us) has resulted in little more than a thoroughly normal product. The Cadillac Ciel is a big, impressive four-seat convertible designed to epitomise the American Dream, as it cruises along the Pacific Coast Highway, cosseting its occupants in sybaritic style. But this is 2011, so there’s a nod to the eco-sensibilities car makers feel the need to embrace.
