Cadillac issues XTS recall over fire risk
Fri, 21 Mar 2014Cadillac is recalling approximately 63,900 XTS sedans over an issue with the brake booster pump. The company believes that the brake booster pump can create positive pressure inside the wiring harness which is attached to the pump relay, and this pressure can dislodge a cavity plug in the relay and allow corrosive elements to enter the connector, creating a resistive short. Cadillac believes that this could lead to overheating and melting of plastic components, and may cause a fire in the engine compartment.

The vice chairman of global product development – who has been at the centre of the automotive industry for the last 46 years – will be replaced by Tom Stephens, GM’s current veepee for global powertrain and global quality. Lutz, 76, will continue to report to GM boss Rick Wagoner throughout 2009 in his new role as GM vice chairman and senior advisor, before bowing out at the end of December.
Petersen museum executive director to retire
Wed, 09 Jun 2010The executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum is retiring after a 12-year-run at the helm of one of the nation's preeminent car collections. Richard Messer is stepping down to concentrate on other business interests. He will be replaced by Buddy Pepp on June 15.
