New Volkswagen Golf R gets horsepower boost

This has been a big year for the VW Golf. The first six months of 2013 saw the new GTI, GTD, Variant and TDI BlueMotion all debut in Europe. Now comes the one we've really been waiting for, the Golf R, announced today in Euro trim.

Alongside the new 508, Peugeot unveiled a B-segment SUV concept called the HR1 in Paris. The new car builds on the new design identity established by the SR1 concept, but also features elements of the diminutive BB1 concept revealed at the 2009 Frankfurt motor show. Renault's design chief Laurens van den Acker and his design team have stressed how the Initiale Paris concept previews how Renault design's tactics will help steer clear of its rivals within the premium segment.  The concept – the sixth to be developed in the design strategy inspired by the cycle of life, now in the Wisdom stage – heralds Renault's return to the high-end market after a number of years.
