Ford announces electric car plans at the Detroit auto show
Sun, 11 Jan 2009Not to be left out of the electric car party, Ford announced Sunday at the Detroit Auto Show that it was developing a line of electric powered vehicles. In addition to its already announced hybrids and plug-in hybrids, Ford is working with Magna International to bring fully electric cars to market with lithium-ion battery packs. In the works is a Focus and Fusion-based vehicles that will be available in with all three powertrains.

And so it is with the new Chevrolet Aveo we have here which, despite Chevy saying this is the production car, won’t hit the roads in the UK for a year. That long gestation period could even change the 2011 Chevy Aveo in to the 2012 Chevy Aveo, which considering the ‘Concept’ for the new Chevy Aveo was shown at Detroit in January is one long introduction phase.
Mercedes to build CLS Shooting Brake
Tue, 09 Nov 2010Mercedes has announced that the CLS Shooting Brake, which was shown as a concept at the Beijing motor show in April 2010, will go into production in 2012. Well, if you want a car that will turn heads around town – and find the E-class estate has a little too much room – then this is the car for you. Mercedes flatly refuses to admit that the CLS Shooting Brake is an estate, preferring to call it a ‘sporty four-door coupe with a sloping tail end based on the CLS’. In essence, this car is a hatchback version of the CLS, and despite a slightly raised roof, it still sits a full 10cm lower than its E-class sibling.
