Scotland to ban petrol and diesel cars by 2050?
Wed, 25 Sep 2013The Scottish government is aiming to ban all petrol and diesel cars from towns, cities and other communities by 2050. This is according to a new “Switched On Scotland” document, intended to serve as a ‘roadmap’ towards the future that encourages businesses and private motorists to swap to electric vehicles (EVs). On Bing: see pictures of electric vehicles Find out how much a used electric vehicle costs on Auto Trader The government will put its money where it’s mouth is here, by spending over £14 million in the next two years to purchase EVs in replacement of its current petrol and diesel fleet, and installing charging points at major buildings.
Audi A3 Sportback e-tron price and specs – costs £34,950
Mon, 28 Jul 2014Audi A3 Sportback e-tron (pictured) costs £34,950 If governments are going to base car taxation on Co2 emissions, then car makers are going to build cars that ‘game’ the official tests. A perfect example of which is the new Audi A3 Sportback e-tron plug-in hybrid. It’s expensive at £34,950 (although the government bribe for plug-ins does drop the price you pay to £29,950), but thanks to its ‘up to 31 miles’ range on battery power only it comes complete with official economy of 176.6 mpg and emissions of 37g/km.
New Nissan Micra DIG-S (2011): Prices & Models
Tue, 09 Aug 2011Nissan Micra DIG-S - UK Details released It was only February when the Nissan Micra DIG-S was revealed but Nissan are now ready to let UK motorists loose in their City Car and have sent us price and model details. What we find particulary appealing about the three-pot supercharged Micra DIG-S is that it seems to offer a perfect alternative to the diesel City Car – and with much lower NOx and particulate emissions – but without the penalties in fuel economy normally associated with petrol-engined cars. Not only does it offer economy that compares favourably with a diesel-engined car of a similar size, it suffers no performance penalty either.
