Chevrolet to build 100 millionth Small Block engine
Fri, 19 Aug 2011The 100 millionth copy of the Chevrolet Small Block engine will roll off the production line before the end of the year--a major milestone for the brand. The Chevy Small Block V8 was first introduced in 1955, laying the foundation for decades of vehicle performance and sustaining a competitive name for Chevy in the market. "The introduction of the Small Block changed everything," General Motors vice president Jim Campbell said.

Unveiled at the Los Angeles Motorshow this morning, Concept Tiguan gives a nine-tenths preview of what the production-ready Tiguan will look like when it arrives here in January 2008. It will initially arrive with a choice of front or all-wheel-drive, four engines – two petrol and two advanced ‘Clean TDI’ diesel units – and six-speed manual or DSG transmission.

The Volt is a landmark model – a hybrid electric car that can run for 40 miles on battery power alone or use the onboard 1.4 petrol engine for further charge. The new Volt will also be one of the world's first plug-in hybrids when it goes on sale in 2010 (2012 for Europe), allowing it to be hooked into the mains to top up the battery.
