Mon, 08 Sep 2014New Jaguar XE launch – watch it LIVE on Cars UK (below) The new Jaguar XE launch is finally upon us, and you can tune in to Cars UK live at 7.15pm UK time (2.15pm EDT) to see exactly what Jaguar’s take on the BMW 3 Series has to offer. Despite tonight being the official reveal, we already know quite a bit about the new XE. Underpinning the new XE will be Jaguar’s new aluminium iQ Al platform – which will also underpin the Jaguar SUV when that arrives – promising less weight than the 3 Series and better economy thanks to its lower weight.
College Exhibition: RCA/GM - Fast Forward 2049
Wed, 06 May 2009First year students at the Royal College of Art recently held an exhibition at the London Transport Museum commemorating the 40th anniversary of the school's vehicle design course. Sponsored by GM's Opel/Vauxhall division, 19 students responded to a brief that called for them to ‘Fast Forward into the Future'. Divided into three groups - Inside Out, Urban Flow and Automark - the students devised their own notions of vehicles for the year 2049, and in some cases entirely reinvented Opel brand values and aesthetics.
Toyota Unveils new Prius at Detroit Auto Show: Bigger, with more power and less weight
Mon, 12 Jan 2009Toyota introduced its third-generation Prius at the Detroit Auto Show with an extensively re-engineered hybrid drivetrain. Ninety percent of the Prius's hybrid synergy drive system has been redesigned, with the focus on weight reduction. The lighter components include the transaxle to cut down on torque loss, inverter with direct cooling and smaller motor.
