Bentley SUV will be the Bentley Falcon
Fri, 23 Nov 2012It looks like Bentley has come up with a name for its SUV – Bentley Falcon - and, as expected, it will get a complete redesign before it arrives. But it now seems that VW has bitten the bullet on the Bentley SUV and signed it off for production, when it will apparently come complete with a new Bentley name – Bentley Falcon. The news of a name for Bentley’s luxury off-roader comes from Georg Kacher writing in Automobile Magazine and, although it perhaps doesn’t resonate particularly in the UK, it will probably have more impact on the target market for the SUV – the Middle East – where the Falcon is a big deal.
Auto-safety history gets its place in the Smithsonian
Thu, 15 Jul 2010Smithsonian museum officials say their new collection of auto-safety objects dating to the 1930s is about America's love affair with its cars. But really it's about our passion for, well, staying alive. While some enthusiasts might question whether their cars should be braking for them, it's hard to quarrel with most of this technology.
VW announces Mk6 Golf prices
Mon, 20 Oct 2008By Ben Pulman Motor Industry 20 October 2008 12:17 VW has released prices for the new Mk6 Golf, but while the new car was rushed into production to cut costs, none of these savings seem to have been passed onto the consumer – the base 1.4 S now starts at £13,150 – £870 more than the Mk5 entry-level Golf. Along with a 79bhp 1.4-litre petrol engine, an entry level S model comes with a decent level of equipment to help offset the price increase. As standard there's ABS, ESP, seven airbags, air-con, heated and electric mirrors, body-coloured bumpers and door handles, plus a CD/radio.
