Range Rover long-wheelbase (2013) first official pictures

Mon, 28 Oct 2013

By Ollie Kew First Official Pictures 28 October 2013 00:01 A limousine off-roader that’s not a tarted-up stretch Hummer? Meet the new Range Rover long-wheelbase, which Land Rover is aiming squarely at the elongated versions of its luxury saloon rivals, like the Mercedes S-class, Audi A8, and Jaguar XJ. On sale in the UK in March 2014, the Range Rover long-wheelbase is expected to cost around £140,000 – twice the price of an entry-level Rangie, and £40k more than its short wheelbase specification equivalent, the top-spec Autobiography.

Mazda MX-5 Kuro Special Editions

Thu, 28 Jun 2012

Mazda has released yet another special edition MX-5 for the UK market in the guise of the Mazda MX-5 Kuro.  Yes, it’s yet another special edition MX-5, this time the Mazda MX-5 Kuro which comes as either a 1.8 litre soft top or a 2.0 litre Roadster Coupe. It seems the Japanese like the idea of ‘Black’ Special Edition cars as much as we do in the West (Kuro means black in Japanese), with the last ‘Kuro’ special being the Nissan Juke Kuro. But oddly Mazda are offering the MX-5 Kuro not just in black but also in Velocity Red Mica and Crystal White Pearlescent, with the ‘Kuro’ bits referring to the Brilliant Black roof, door mirrors and dark gunmetal 17″ alloys.

Mercedes R-class facelift (2010) first official pictures

Wed, 31 Mar 2010

This is the facelifted Mercedes R-class, unveiled today at the 2010 New York auto show.  It lives, and in the UK the new model will only be available as an entry level, rear-drive R300 CDI and a top-spec, long-wheelbase R350 CDI. The R300 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY 2WD (to give this big beast its full name) is 7% more efficient than before but still offers the same power and performance. The more snappily titled R350 CDI 4MATIC is also more economical (its 33.2mpg bettering its predecessor by 2.8mpg) but also more powerful, with outputs of 261bhp and 457ft up from 218bhp and 376lb ft.
