Auctions America revitalizes former Kruse sale

Despite a few close calls and false starts, Auburn, Ind., remains a town where two large operators hold collector-car auctions at the unofficial end of summer. Worldwide Auctioneers continued at its regular space (though with a much larger sale), and the new kid down the street, Auctions America by RM, took over where Kruse had faltered. Toyota has released fresh information regarding its 414bhp supermini concept ahead of its debut at next month’s Frankfurt motor show. The Yaris Hybrid R drivetrain features Toyota Motorsport’s 1.6-litre racing petrol engine to power the front wheels and twin electric motors generating 60bhp apiece to run those at the back, giving the car all-wheel drive and a combined output of up to 414bhp. The car also makes use of a supercapacitor inspired by Toyota’s TS030 Hybrid Le Mans racer – energy generated under heavy braking is stored and can be quickly deployed to the rear wheels for an extra burst of power.

Saab appoints North American administrator, prospects darken

Saab has appointed an outside administrator to oversee its business in North America and the potential wind-down or sale of the company if its parent operations can’t emerge from bankruptcy. The move was announced on Wednesday afternoon by Saab North American COO Tim Holbeck as the company’s future remains uncertain. McTevia & Associates, a management and financial-consulting service with offices in suburban Detroit and Florida, is the administrator.
