Suzuki Regina, Q-concept, Swift EV (2011) first pictures
Thu, 10 Nov 2011Suzuki is showing its vision for an aerodynamic city car at the 2011 Tokyo auto show: the regally named Regina. It's pitched as a radical 'next-generation global compact car', which sounds suspiciously as if it could have production intent. The new Suzuki Regina is all about minimalism: it weighs just 730kg, so it only requires a small capacity petrol engine, which brings emissions down to 70g/km and appetite for unleaded at a rate of 90mpg.
2011 Cadillac CTS coupe is revealed, and a V-Series model is confirmed
Mon, 23 Nov 2009Two-door Cadillacs have always had a special place in the hearts of enthusiasts of means, reinforcing the brand as a purveyor of personal luxury and performance. Now comes the latest in the lineage: the 2011 CTS coupe, which will be joined by a high-powered V-Series model. The first official photos of the car in production trim were released on Monday ahead of its showing at the Los Angeles auto show, and the car is the centerpiece for Cadillac's remade product line.
Early cars, fashion on display at the Petersen
Thu, 16 Sep 2010Automotivated, a new exhibit at the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, traces the evolution of clothes worn in cars--from the bulky circus-tent stuff people had to wear to keep from freezing to death in the jangly, open-topped conveyances of 100 years ago, up to the height of the European Concours in the 1920s and '30s, when what you and your date wore was just as important to winning best of show as the styling of your Delahaye/Delage/Talbot Lago. “In the earliest days of the automobile, you were sitting on the car, you weren't sitting in it,” said Leslie Kendall, curator at the Petersen. So the first section of the exhibit shows people (mannequins dressed as people) in heavy, practical overcoats, scarves and goggles.
