A RECENT episode of BBC Two’s Top Gear shone the spotlight on the pitfalls associated with buying a used car. The team bought three BMW 325i convertibles and demonstrated how seemingly identical vehicles can have a very different past. The McLaren P1 XP2R (pictured) caught at the Nurburgring The McLaren P1 is pretty much out in the open, and has even had it’s dynamic debut – in the hands of Jenson Button – at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. So why is there a McLaren P1 blatting round the Nurburgring wearing a small badge that says ‘XP2R’? Is this a ‘special’ P1; perhaps the first hint that McLaren are going to produce an even more extreme P1?

Lots of people haven't bought a Bugatti Veyron for many reasons - chiefly cost - but for the few who found the Bugatti supercar too slow, this is the answer: the Veyron 16.4 Super Sport, aka the World's Fastest Car. Whereas previous limited-edition Veyrons such as the all-black Sang Noir made do with cosmetic changes, the Super Sport Bugatti has done a lot more than just give it a new lick of paint. Out go the large overhead air scoops, replaced by deep air ducts.
