remanufacturing) standard for rebuilt motors is ONLY 100 hours per
outboard repair, and a loss of up to 20% power loss . Here is the
problem: piston and ring seating is dependent directly on cylinder wall
finish. To accomplish the proper finish, the method used is referred to
as "plateau finish". This process is how today's automobile motors go
over 100,000 instead of maybe 50,000 miles like they used to. To obtain
this finish in a blind hole motor (outboards) you can't use automotive
machining methods. Special machines using diamond precision computer
controlled hones are needed. These machines with their support equipment
are a must on modern outboards, gone are the days that you can do this
correctly at a dealer or in a garage. With this in mind we attempt to
educate. For the uneducated
customer who looks only for low price also gets a new friend. Who? The
dealer or person who is going to rebuild your engine again, to the
industry standard, AGAIN... Blackbird has the equipment and years of experience to offer same as "factory power head warranty" of ONE YEAR. DID YOU KNOW WE ARE THE ONLY REBUILDER THAT REBUILDS OUTBOARD CRANKSHAFTS?
All crankshafts are replaced or refinished. We don't put new bearings
on a used crankshaft and we are the only rebuilder who can refinish
crankshafts. WE CAN ARRANGE SHIPPING by Fed-Ex FREIGHT and the utmost care is taken to ensure you receive your motor in good condition. Need more info call 724 290 0509

Flashback: Pontiac killed on April 27, 2009
Wed, 27 Apr 2011It was precisely two years ago today--April 27, 2009--that Pontiac met its demise. In hindsight, the decision made a lot of sense for General Motors, which six weeks later would file for bankruptcy. But at the time, many enthusiasts were more than a bit upset that 80 years of Pontiac--once the third-best-selling brand in the United States--was set for the scrap yard.
WRC Mini Concept (2010) first official pictures
Thu, 30 Sep 2010While the Mini Countryman might be destined for suburban mumsville, BMW has confirmed the new model will also terrorise the countryside in the form of the WRC Mini from 2011, with IRC champ Kris Meeke at the wheel. Officially launched at the 2010 Paris motor show in concept guise, the WRC Mini will be engineered and run by motorsport doyen Dave Richards and his Prodrive outfit, although customer packages will be available too, allowing independents to compete in the car. Not so much – this is no time for misty-eyed Paddy Hopkirk odes.
