General Motors has recalled a further 8.4 million cars as part of an ongoing investigation into a fault that causes the ignition key to turn unintentionally. Almost 30m cars across the US, Canada and Mexico have now been recalled by General Motors in 2014. Approximately 3,500 people are making claims for death or injury
The recalls affect cars made as far back as 1997, but the American car maker insists that there is no conclusive evidence that faults with the cars caused crashes involving the vehicles.

The new Volvo V40 arrives
The new Volvo V40 – dues to debut at the Geneva Motor Show – has leaked ouy early from a Polish Facebook page. We has what looked like the first photo of the new Volvo V40 a week or so ago, but we now have what is undoubtedly the first official photo of the 2012 V40 ahead of its debut at Geneva in a couple of weeks. Looking a bit like a cross between the C30 and the V60, the V40 is a good looking car.

Jaguar has revealed it plans to offer all wheel drive models across its range for future models, but will the UK get the chance to buy a 4WD Jaguar? Not only was the lack of a four wheel drive platform hampering sales, but it was cited as one of the main reasons Jaguar hadn’t given the green light to an XF Estate. But things have moved on in the last couple of years and Jaguar has recently launched a 4WD XJ and 4WD XF (although not for the UK) and finally delivered the XF Sportbrake (but without a 4WD option).
