John Hennessey unwinds modified Chevy SS
Tue, 31 Dec 2013Perhaps it's not as impressive as John Hennessey's recent 200mph blast down Houston's new Grand Parkway in a warmed-up Stingray, but we figured we'd show you his latest run down the same road in a Chevrolet SS equipped with his company's HPE600 Supercharged package. Thanks to GM's engineers, the four-door hits its top speed of 163 in 5th, rather than 6th, but what impressed us the most was watching the numbers climb on the VBOX — the car pulls John-Bonham-hard all the way up to its top speed. Hennessey hasn't released details of the mods performed on the SS yet, but we're anxious to see what this anodyne-looking monster will do on the top end once the gearing nag's sent off to the glue factory.

Sun, 22 Apr 20122012 Audi Q5 Facelift - but you need to look hard The Audi Q5 is getting a facelift – although you’ll need to look hard to spot it – and will be revealed at Beijing tomorrow. We had wondered if we’d see a concept of the Audi Q5 Cabriolet at Beijing as Audi rushes to match the Evoque’s niche offering of a drop-top SUV. But it seems the Q5 news for Beijing, apart from the arrival of the Q5 RS Concept, is a facelift for the Q5 – although you’ll need to look hard to see it.
Huntsman U-Box concept explores use of carbon materials
Wed, 23 Mar 2011If you attended our Car Design Night at this year's Geneva motor show, you may well have seen the U-Box concept vehicle parked outside the entrance. Developed by Huntsman Advanced Materials, this 'last mile' delivery vehicle is a showcase of the company's composite materials expertise. "The D3 Group [based in Paris] designed the car and also came up with the idea of 'last-mile delivery'," explains Harald Wiedemann, Vice President of Huntsman Advanced Materials (EMEAI).
