2011 / 2012 Saab 9-5 SportCombi spied undisguised
Thu, 03 Feb 2011Saab 9-5 SportCombi spotted near Trollhattan From a flurry of activity when Spyker finally got hold of Saab from GM nearly a year ago, news from Trollhattan has not been exactly flowing out in an endless stream. And good news hasn’t really been the keynote for the first year of Spyker’s ownership of Sweden’s second favourite car maker. Ssangyong relaunches brand with Giugiaro-designed Korando
Wed, 13 Oct 2010Korean brand Ssangyong is back from the dead. After looking odds-on favorite to become another automotive casualty of the global recession after Chinese owner SAIC put it into receivership in early 2009, the 4x4 specialist has found a new owner in 2010 – signing a memorandum of understanding with Indian company Mahindra & Mahindra in August – and has just re-launched its brand with a new car designed by Giugiaro. The fourth-generation Korando mid-sized crossover – prefaced by the C200 concept shown at the April 2009 Seoul motorshow – is due on sale in January 2011 pending the expected completion of the Mahindra deal in November this year.

Fri, 06 Jun 2014Project Car Hell is back for another matchup of appealing-yet-appalling project choices. Sometimes we like rusty old trucks suitable for fire roads in Idaho or hunting trails in Kenya, but such Hell Project choices always make the Hell Garage Demons itch for something much different. And, really, what could differ more from boxy, half-century-old 4x4s than great big luxury sedans with model years bookending American involvement in the war that blew up all of Detroit's serious global competitors for a good couple of decades?
