2013 Mazda 3, 2014 Mazda CX-5 earn 'Top Safety Pick' rating

Mazda announced Wednesday that the 2013 Mazda 3 and the 2014 Mazda CX-5 have both earned “good” ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. To achieve the overall “good” rating, the vehicles had to perform well in each of the following crash-test categories: frontal moderate overlap, side, rear impact and roof strength. “The Mazda 3 and the CX-5 are two very important vehicles for Mazda and our customers,” said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, Mazda North American Operations (MNAO).

BMW to launch app for music on demand

BMW is partnering with online-music-service provider MOG to develop an application that allows on-demand music to be streamed inside its cars. The service launches with the BMW 6-series this fall. The MOG app for the BMW Apps option has on-demand streaming with unlimited, ad-free listening; mobile storage for music, and the ability to search, tag songs or listen to curated content.

Ford collaborates with DIY workshop for Detroit location

Detroit inventors will soon have access to the ultimate do-it-yourself workshop. Having joined forces with Ford, TechShop is scheduled to launch one of its open-access facilities in the Motor City this winter. The facility will provide artists and inventors with machinery they might not otherwise have access to, like sheetmetal equipment, CNC plasma cutters and three-dimensional printers.
