Full Manufacturer's Descriptions:

LSXr Intake Manifold:
FAST™ engineers teamed up with airflow specialists at RHS™ to develop a polymer intake manifold for cathedral port GM LS1/LS2/LS6 engines. The LSXR™ 102mm Intake Manifold features a three-piece modular design that allows easy disassembly and porting. Extensive testing led to a runner design that is longer and less restrictive and gives the user the ability to remove individual runners from the manifold for modification.

Constructed from the same advanced polymer material as the LSX™ 92mm Intake Manifold, the LSXR™ offers a host of benefits over aluminum aftermarket intakes, including lighter weight, increased strength and improved heat dissipating characteristics. While the LSXR™ features a 102mm air inlet that is perfectly suited to the FAST™ Big Mouth 102mm Throttle Body™, it can also be used with stock or aftermarket 90mm or 92mm throttle bodies. Other features include integrated nitrous bungs and perfect bolt-on fitment that allows the use of factory accessories without modification or clearance concerns.

"Big Mouth" 102mm Throttle Body:
When it comes to improving your engine’s performance, increased airflow is a key ingredient. The FAST™ Big Mouth Throttle Bodies™ for the FAST™ LSXR™ 102mm Intake Manifolds increase airflow through a series of innovative design changes and a slightly enlarged throttle opening. FAST™ also invested significant testing & engineering resources into optimizing cross-sectional flow and eliminating airflow turbulence, especially at part throttle operation.

In addition, these throttle bodies offer increased throttle blade thickness to eliminate deflection commonly found with other throttle bodies, especially those in boosted applications. A smoother operating offset blade pivot improves throttle response, and a beefed up linkage and dual throttle spring mechanism ensure total throttle control.

LS-Series Perimeter Plate Nitrous System:
Adjustable from 100-250 horsepower, the complete, race-ready ZEX™ LS Series Perimeter Plate Blackout Nitrous System™ for throttle-by-cable applications provides optimum spray efficiency and fuel distribution with nitrous and fuel outlets placed at 12 injection points around the perimeter of the intake manifold’s inlet. The revolutionary Perimeter Plate is a direct fit for all 90mm and larger, “4-bolt” style OEM and aftermarket throttle body/manifold combinations, as well as the new FAST™ LSXR™/LSXRT™ 102mm Intake Manifolds. As with all ZEX™ Blackout Nitrous Systems™, this kit comes with black powder-coated bottles, carbon-fiber looking hoses and fittings that look great in any street/strip or all out drag-racing application.

ZEX™ Perimeter Plates utilize three revolutionary ZEX™ patented nitrous technologies: Perimeter Injection™, Cryo-Sync™ and Airflow Enhancement™.

Perimeter Injection™ Technology:
Unlike traditional nitrous kits, the ZEX™ Perimeter Plate employs multiple injection points to create a perfectly atomized blend of fuel and nitrous. This mixture is then fired directly into the center of the intake plenum, ensuring equal dispersal between cylinders. By optimizing cylinder-to cylinder distribution, ZEX™ Perimeter Injection™ Technology generates maximum power without sacrificing engine safety.

Cryo-Sync™ Technology:
The ZEX™ Perimeter Plate routes the nitrous through a set of internal passages before spraying it into your engine. During this circulation process, the nitrous temperature drops to -127 degrees below zero! This cryogenic phenomenon effectively turns the plate into an ultra-efficient Cryo-Sync™, cooling your carburetor and intake manifold for additional power.

Airflow Enhancement™ Technology:
The ZEX™ Perimeter Plate has been designed to inject the nitrous at an optimized angle, toward the center of the intake plenum. In addition to ensuring proper cylinder distribution, this ZEX™- developed technology creates a pocket of intense low pressure just below the carburetor while the nitrous is being sprayed. This low-pressure area enhances airflow into your engine, which further improves power gains.

White House pushes automakers toward 54.5-mpg target by 2025

Tue, 26 Jul 2011

The White House is pushing automakers to agree by Wednesday to a corporate average fuel economy target of 54.5 mpg by 2025--a figure 1.7 mpg less than the 56.2 mpg standard it floated earlier this month. The easing of the White House plan stems from a concession to makers of light trucks and SUVs, and particularly larger vehicles in that segment, such as Ford's F-150, sources said. The latest White House proposal, the most definitive of any it has put forth, calls for a 5 percent annual mileage increase for cars from 2017-2025, said industry and congressional officials who asked not to be named because their discussions with the White House are confidential.
