The Geely GE at Shanghai - Geely deny copying the Phantom! Last month, long before the Shanghai Motor Show kicked off, we brought you a story on the Geely GE, a Rolls Royce Phantom rip off (or homage, if you prefer) which certainly made us smile. Olivia Harrison and Paul Weller at the MINI United Event at Silverstone [ad#ad-1] The MINI United Event has been with us for a couple of years now, but with this year being the 50th Anniversary of the Mini, the event exploded in to something pretty huge. Held at Silverstone over this weekend there were cars, and people, from the four corners of the earth. Over 10,000 Minis, and 25,000 people, made the pilgrimage to Silverstone to celebrate all things Mini (and MINI) in style.

Range Rover Evoque Convertible NOT going in to production. Thankfully.

It seems Land Rover is having second thoughts about making the Range Rover Evoque Convertible – shown at Geneva 2012 – in to a production model. But the one model we really couldn’t find a lot of positives in was the Range Rover Evoque Convertible – which arrived as a concept at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show – looking like the ultimate statement of Chav central for Tango’d ‘Ladies’ who lunch, from Brentwood via Surrey and up to Cheshire. We understood Land Rover’s impetus – they thought there’d be a market for a drop-top Evoque – but it really was a step too far for Land Rover to go.
